Overview
Chromaflow is a real-time interactive fluid simulation built with Production Club for AWS Re:Invent, Amazon's annual web services conference in Las Vegas. Attendees moved the simulation with their whole body on a 26 ft 4K LED wall.
Challenge
Chromaflow ran continuously on a busy conference floor, with the interaction area intentionally controlled so only a few attendees entered at a time. The system needed to respond immediately, reset naturally between groups, and operate without per-user setup. Although the tracking system could support five or more participants, the physical installation kept each interaction focused and manageable.
System
Streams from multiple RealSense D435 depth cameras were merged into a single tracking volume covering a 26 ft by 10 ft area in front of the LED wall. Body presence and movement translated into forces inside a GPU fluid simulation driving the 26 ft 4K display, built to hold up on a busy conference floor.
Delivery
The engagement ran about four weeks from creative brief to delivery, with the system developed through multiple rounds of review against Production Club’s creative direction. I was on site in Las Vegas for the install.
